India will take on England in the 5-game Test series beginning from June 20 in Leeds. To prepare well for the lengthy series, Indian management organised an intra-squad game between India and India A, with Prasidh Krishna stressing the importance of red-ball practice.
After an outstanding performance in the IPL 2025 season, where he clinched the Purple Cap with 25 wickets for Gujarat Titans, pacer Prasidh is back in the spotlight as India gear up for the first Test against England.
With a history of recurring injuries, Krishna has played only a handful of Tests but has remained ready for any opportunity.
Prasidh Krishna Excited For India-England Series
India played an intra-squad game against India A to prepare for the first Test against England scheduled at Leeds on June 20.
Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna, talking to BCCI TV, described the warm-up match conditions at Kent Cricket Ground and noted the “nice, hard pitch” that kept bowlers in the game, with both batters and bowlers showcasing quality performances.
"It's really important for all of us to get this game time... because some of them are coming form the 'A' game. Getting some time on field is really important. That's what has happened today as well. Looks like a good, nice, hard pitch. Bowlers have been in the game all throughout, have been bowling some really good spells. Batsmen also showed some character. It's always good when you are competing against each other as well," Krishna said (via SportsTak).
He also stressed the value of game time, especially for players coming from the ‘A’ team circuit.
"All of us are excited and enjoying what's happening... All of us are getting together after a while, so a lot memories, a lot of cricket each one has played with different teams, coming here, have spent a lot of time before... just try and make sure you keep the environment light," he added.
What Happened On Day 1 Of The Intra-Squad Game?
In a match played behind closed doors, KL Rahul and Shubman Gill starred with the bat on day 1, each notching up half-centuries. Even though no official scorecard was released, the BCCI confirmed these highlights in a post-match report.
Among the bowlers, Shardul Thakur made a mark by reportedly taking four wickets, asserting his case strongly for a place in the Test XI. Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, and Yashasvi Jaiswal also got valuable time in the middle as the teams rotated players to maximise match practice.
Before the match began, both teams wore black armbands and observed a minute’s silence to honour the victims of the tragic Ahmedabad plane crash. Head coach Gautam Gambhir was absent from proceedings, having flown home to attend to his ailing mother.
