The Asia Cup 2023 was in jeopardy, but at-last, the dates have been finalised and the mega event is set to take place from August 31 to September 17.

The hybrid model of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been accepted by the Asian Cricket Council and the event is set to go underway in two countries - Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

As per the proposed hybrid model, 4 matches will be played in Pakistan, while 9 matches, including the India-Pakistan clash will take place in Sri Lanka.

Now OneCricket understands that the Sri Lanka leg of the Asia Cup matches will take place outside Colombo. This is due to the extreme heat in the city and some of the teams have raised their concerns regarding the same.

As our sources have confirmed, Pallekele (Kandy) is a likely destination for the Asia Cup matches, due to its pleasant weather.

The Asia Cup will take place in the 50-over format, considering the World Cup just around the corner. As far as the format of the tournament is concerned, the top two teams from the two groups will qualify for the Super-8 stage, where they will lock horns with each other once again.

The top-2 teams then will qualify for the finals, set to take place on September 17.
