The 2023 edition of the Asia Cup is all set to take place in Pakistan and Sri Lanka between August 31-September 17.

According to media reports, the hybrid model proposed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been accepted by the Asian Cricket Council (ACB) during the meeting of the committee this week.

According to the same model, as many as 4 matches will be played in Pakistan, while 9, including India-Pakistan fixtures- will be conducted in the island nation.

India and Pakistan have been clubbed in the same Group alongside qualifiers, Nepal, while the other Group consists of Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Just like the previous edition, the top-2 teams from each group will qualify for Super-4, where they will lock horns with each other once.

The top-2 sides from the "Super-4" will lock horns in the summit clash in Sri Lanka on September 17th.

For the uninitiated, this time the Asia Cup will be held in its traditional 50-over format, keeping in mind the upcoming 50-over World Cup in India.

This will be the first time that the tournament will be held in the ODI format since the 2018 edition, which was won by India.

The last edition was in the T20 format, which was conducted in the United Arab Emirates last year, where hosts Sri Lanka were crowned champions after they beat Pakistan in the final.
