Australian opener David Warner recently squashed rumours about retiring from cricket, but has managed to secure himself a commentary-deal with Fox Sports post his retirement. Warner has already spoken about playing Tests in Australia's upcoming India and England tours this year and featuring in the ICC World Cup 2023.

Warner, 36, will look to fill the void left in the Fox Sports commentary panel with the sudden passing away of Shane Warne and Andrew Symonds. Foxtel signed a seven-year TV deal with Cricket Australia in alliance with Seven for AUD 1.5 billion on Tuesday.

He will join his former teammate and legend Adam Gilchrist in the panel.

Warner made a triumphant return to form in the Boxing Day Test, scoring a majestic double-ton in his 100th red-ball for the Baggy Greens.

In a statement, the Sydney Thunder player looked forward to his new venture post cricket,

Foxtel CEO Patrick Delany, too, displayed his delight over signing Warner, who could provide insights into the game from the mindset of a modern day great.

Here's what Warner said

“I’m delighted to have been given the opportunity to join the Fox Cricket team. I look forward to making an impact where I can over the next 12 months. I’ll continue to play and it’s great to know that once I finish my career, I’ll still be involved in the game that I love, and the game that has given me so much.”

The left-handed opener will most likely take field against South Africa in the third and final Test against South Africa tomorrow in Sydney.
