In a significant development, India Champions have decided to pull out of their upcoming semi-final tie against Pakistan Champions in the ongoing World Championship of Legends (WCL). The semi-final was scheduled to take place on Thursday, July 31, but the match has now been called off.

Rahul Rawat from India Today, took to Twitter to reveal that the India Champions have decided to pull out of the semi-final tie. In this scenario, Pakistan will qualify for the final and set up a match against the winner of semi-final 2 between South Africa Champions and Australia Champions.

"The Indian team (India Champions) at the WCL has officially withdrawn from the tournament after the players' refusal to play the semifinal game against Pakistan. The ECB is being informed about the decision, which means Pakistan will progress to the final of the WCL this year," tweeted Rahul Rawat.

Explained: Why Pakistan Will Advance To The Final?

While there is no official confirmation from the WCL regarding the match being called off, there can be two reasons why Pakistan will advance to the final.

Firstly, the called-off game is most likely to be considered as a forfeit from India, which means that the Yuvraj Singh-led side have backed out from the upcoming game, resulting in Pakistan advancing to the final.

Another Reason behind why Pakistan will qualify for the final is that they finished higher than India in the group stage. Notably, Pakistan Champions finished the league stage as table toppers, while India were fourth with just a solitary win and sealed their semi-finals berth with a win over West Indies Champions.

India Also Boycotted The Group-Stage Match vs Pakistan

It is not the first time in this WCL that India Champions boycotted their clash against Pakistan as the Yuvraj Singh-led side also pulled out of their group-stage tie because of the recent attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir.

However, following the cancellation of that match, the organisers awarded both teams with a point.
