While the English side gave an outstanding performance against Pakistan in the first Test, former skipper Joe Root did something unusual that caught the attention of the cricketing fraternity.

During the third day's play, Root was spotted shining the ball with the help of spinner Jack Leach's bald head. The move was called by English legend David Gower as 'ingenious' who lauded the right-hander for making proper use of sweat after saliva ban was imposed.

On a video posted on PCB's official Twitter handle, after the end of 72nd over of the Pakistan innings, some players gathered around Leach who took his cap off with Root then rubbing the ball on his head. When asked he said,

"You got to try and get some moisture on it, try and get some weight on it, try and get it moving around and a plastic wicket like that and a nice sweaty bald head like Jack's is  perfect foil for it."

By the end of third day's play, Pakistan are 158 runs behind the English side who thumped a gigantic score of 657 on a flat Rawalpindi track with as many as four of the English batters crossing the hundred-run mark.
