India captain Rohit Sharma, on Tuesday, once again displayed why he is one of the finest white-ball batters of all time as the stylish right-hander creamed an audacious 41-ball 72 on a difficult pitch in Dubai against Sri Lanka.

On a pitch where every other Indian player struggled, Rohit looked like he was batting on a different surface as he pulled, hooked, flicked, and lapped his way to his 32nd 50+ score in T20 internationals. Apart from this, Sharma also became the first Indian to breach the 1000-run mark in Asia Cup.

Rohit's knock came at a time when India had lost two quick wickets in the form of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli inside the first 3 overs with just 13 runs on the board.

The Indian captain smashed five boundaries and four sixes, and it was his 97-run stand (in 9.4 overs) with Suryakumar Yadav (34 off 29 deliveries) that got the defending champions back in the game.

However, his dismissal proved to be another turning point as the Indian middle-order once again failed to rise to the occasion and provide the flourish that they would have liked.

As a result, India managed just 173/8 in their quota of 20 overs, and at the time of writing, Sri Lanka had already wiped out 97 runs from their target (at the time of writing) thanks to their opening duo of Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis.

Here's how Twitter reacted to Rohit Sharma's magical knock:
