Glamorgan County Cricket Club (GCCC) has announced the signing of Australian international Marnus Labuschagne until 2024, further extending his existing contract by two years.
Labuschagne made his debut for Glamorgan back in 2019 and has since seen a meteoric rise in international cricket for Australia. The right-handed batter scored 1,114 runs in his debut County season, which resulted in him receiving a maiden Test call-up.
Overall, for the Cardiff-based club, Labuschagne has stockpiled 1,719 runs in 21 appearances and 508 runs across 14 T20s.
Ranked number two Test batter in ICC Rankings, the 28-year-old has played 28 red-ball matches, amassing 2,539 at an average of 54, including seven tons and 13 fifties.
Labuschagne expressed his delight, and looked forward to winning more trophies.
“I love playing for Glamorgan, and look forward to coming to Cardiff and Wales every year. It’s become a second home for me and my family and I’m rapt that I’m coming back for another two years.
Since the moment I got here, the Glamorgan players, staff and supporters have treated me like I was one of their own and I’m extremely grateful for that. I can’t wait to return to Wales and help push the team forward to win more silverware.”
