The Pakistan National T20 Cup 2022 resumed on September 6 with two matches in Rawalpindi. Here is look at the highlights from both fixtures.

Central Punjab vs Sindh

Central Punjab finally overcame their four-match winless run, registering an 11-run triumph over Sindh in match number 13 of the tournament.

Faizan Khan and veteran Shoaib Malik slammed sparkling half-centuries while Irfan Khan delivered the finishing fury to boost Central Punjab’s total to 188-5. Notably, they had lost both their openers within the first 15 deliveries of their innings.

Sindh’s response had a steady launch, and they maintained a free-flowing scoring rate throughout the run-chase. However, the Saud Shakeel-led side always remained behind the asking rate and eventually fell 11 runs short of their target.

Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed sparked the lone rebellion in the second innings, charting an unbeaten 62 off just 37 balls.

Northern vs Southern Punjab

Northern Punjab pipped Southern Punjab by five runs in a final-over see-saw tussle at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The high-scoring contest witnessed over 360 runs, with the Northerners amounting to 187 runs while batting first.

Captain Umar Amir reached his half-century while Aamir Jamal cracked a 17-ball 47* to turbo-charge their innings.

In response, the Southern Punjab took the game till the final over and only lost courtesy of Northern’s sensational boundary catching efforts. Apart from his blistering knock earlier in the day, Jamal also delivered the match-turning spell in the run-chase, taking three wickets while giving away just 27 runs.
