'They are undermining a superb effort': Former Pakistan ace on 'No-Ball' controversy

Virat Kohli played an unreal innings in the India's opening match against Pakistan to take India home. But a section of the fans have fixated their focus on the controversial 'no-ball' call in the 20th over of India's innings. 

Many a cricket expert and fans have felt that undue attention to the no-ball incident is shifting the focus from the superb performance the two teams put on the field on that day. The latest addition to the list of people with similar opinion is the former Pakistan captain, Salman Butt.

In a recent interaction in his youtube channel, Butt mentioned that the people talking unnecessarily about the no-ball don't have a clue about the actual laws. He also stated that too much discussion on the matter is not allowing enough focus and due respect to the supreme efforts put in by the two teams on the field. 

"There has been a lot of discussion regarding the 'no-ball' call. Some are saying that the decision was given after Kohli made the appeal. Others are saying that the free-hit delivery should've been a dead ball as it had hit the stumps. There are two things that I can think of. Firstly, they don't have a clue about the laws and secondly, they are undermining a superb effort put in by both the teams. The match kept swinging like a pendulum but India, eventually, won the game due to Virat Kohli's brilliance. They wouldn't have been able to win the match without him."

Speaking of the match, Pakistan batted first and posted 159 runs in their 20 overs. During the chase India were 31/4 at one stage, but Hardik Pandya and Virat Kohli ensured that India did not falter further. 

Kohli's supreme effort of 82 runs from 53 balls supported by Pandya's 40 (37) took India to win by a margin of 4 wickets on the last ball of the innings. India will be next seen playing against Netherlands on Thursday 27th October, 2022.
