T20 World Cup 2022: Do-or-die game for South Africa, believes Shakib Al Hasan
Bangladesh are coming off a win over Netherlands [Source: Twitter]
Bangladesh registered their first-ever Super 12 stage in the T20 World Cup after beating the Netherlands in their Group 2 encounter. South Africa, also in the same group, on the other hand, shared one point with Zimbabwe due to their match being called off.
Both teams will clash against each other tomorrow (October 27) at the Sydney Cricket Ground, looking to gain much-needed points. The Proteas head into the affair with more hunger and desperation to win, while the Bangla Tigers will look to repeat their performance on Monday.
As per ESPNcricinfo, Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan has already started playing mind games, saying that match 22 of the tournament will be a do-or-die game for South Africa.
"It is a very important match for both sides but for South Africa, who would have expected two points from their first game, this is a do-or-die match. They will be under some pressure. They have a number of world-class players in their side, but we will try to the best of our ability,"
Shakib further stated that he was hoping their batters could take down the African bowling attack, which might not get the same assistance in Sydney as on other grounds.
Apart from South Africa, Bangladesh remaining matches are against Zimbabwe, India, and Pakistan.
