Pakistan outclassed Zimbabwe in the second T20I at Bulawayo’s Queens Sports Club on Tuesday, December 3. Young left-arm spinner Sufiyan Muqeem delivered the ‘Player of the Match’ performance as Pakistan took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Here’s the timeline of how ZIM vs PAK panned out in Bulawayo:

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Zimbabwe openers Brian Bennett and Tadiwanashe Marumani listed 37 quick runs together at the top of the order in less than five overs. Hampering Zimbabwe’s confident start, senior Pakistan paceman Haris Rauf piled on the newfound momentum with the prized scalp of Brian Bennett (21 off 14) in the sixth over. Abbas Afridi also knocked over Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza for just three while Agha Salman trapped Dion Myers plumb in front to reduce the hosts to 44-4 a while later.

Thereafter, left-arm spinner Sufiyan Muqeem, playing just his seventh T20I, skittled the remainder of Zimbabwe’s batting line-up by picking up career-best figures of 5-3.

The 25-year-old picked up each of his five victims in the space of just 2.4 overs as Zimbabwe folded up for 57, thus losing all their 10 wickets for just 20 after the 37-run opening partnership.

ZIM vs PAK Highlights: Yousuf, Ayub Record Pakistan’s Fastest Win

In pursuit of 58 runs, Pakistan openers Omair Yousuf and Saim Ayub consumed just 5.3 overs to steer their team to a 10-wicket victory. Yousuf listed 22 unbeaten runs from just 15 balls with two boundaries and a six, while Ayub smeared six boundaries and a six in his whirlwind 18-ball 36*.

Through their unbeaten 61-run partnership within the powerplay overs, the two young openers together orchestrated Pakistan’s quickest win in T20Is, in terms of number of balls remaining (87). The outcome also helped Pakistan seal the three-match series with a game to spare.
