MS Dhoni was recently spotted vacationing with friends, shortly after getting retained by the CSK franchise for the IPL 2025 season next year. The 43-year-old had his availability confirmed for another IPL season after he was retained as an ‘uncapped cricketer’ under new IPL regulations back in October.

On the day of IPL 2025 retention announcement, Dhoni became one of the five cricketers confirmed to reprise their CSK roles alongside fellow franchise zealot Ravindra Jadeja, all-rounder Shivam Dube, overseas star Matheesha Pathirana and team captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Back in October this year, MS Dhoni became one of the five retentions made by the CSK franchise for the IPL 2025 season. Since the 43-year-old played his final international match for Team India more than five years ago, the former Indian skipper was retained as an ‘uncapped cricketer’ for CSK, as per the latest IPL regulations.

A winner of five IPL titles as CSK skipper, Dhoni relinquished his captaincy role prior to IPL 2024 season in favor of rising star Ruturaj Gaikwad. Apart from conceding his captaincy, Dhoni also limited his batting role, as he faced just 73 deliveries throughout the tournament and maintained a staggering strike rate of 220.54 in the process.

For the IPL 2025 season, he will be reunited with former CSK colleague Ravichandran Ashwin, considering the legendary Indian all-rounder was reacquired by the franchise at the mega auction in late-November in Saudi Arabia. He will also play alongside the likes of Deepak Hooda, Sam Curran, Khaleel Ahmed and New Zealand stars Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway among others.
