India's next 'King' Yashasvi Jaiswal was at his imperial best in the second innings of the Perth Test Vs Australia. He blasted his fourth Test hundred and first Vs the Aussies to put the Indian side in a commanding position.
With India having a 46-run lead, the onus was on the Indian openers to give a solid start, and that's just what happened. Both KL Rahul and Jaiswal added 201 runs for the opening wicket and seemingly pushed Australia on the verge of defeat.
Jaiswal, despite scoring a duck in the first innings looked comfortable and took on the Aussie attack as he marched towards a scintillating Test century at Perth. He played with grit and determination and brought up a hundred to remember on a tough track.
Jaiswal joins Gavaskar in Test century list
With his fourth Test ton and the maiden on the Australian soil, Jaiswal joined an elite list alongside legendary batter, Sunil Gavaskar. He became the third Indian after ML Jaisimha and Sunil Gavaskar to score a Test century in Australia in maiden appearance.
While Jaisimha slammed a century during the 1967-68 tour, Gavaskar achieved the feat in Brisbane during the 1977-78 tour.
Jaiswal extends India's lead as Australia look tired
Jaiswal has upped the ante after breaching the three-figure mark in the Perth Test. He took on the aggressive mode as the boundary floodgates opened and it frustrated the Aussie bowlers.
Despite losing his opening partner, KL Rahul, Jaiswal has looked unfazed as India will hope he can continue to dominate the Australian attack. Currently, India lead by 269 runs and they'll be at-least eyeing a lead of 400 runs.
