The wait is over as the T20 cricket fever is done and dusted and the focus shifts towards the Tests as the World Test Championship (WTC) final will commence at the Mecca of Cricket, Lord's. The defending champions, Australia will collide against the underdogs, South Africa as two heavyweights will face off in the battle of supremacy.
The road to finale for AUS-SA
The two teams finished at the top two of the points table and had an outstanding road to the finale, dominating almost every series and every opponent. South Africa were the table toppers while Australia finished second, leapfrogging the Indian team.
Both Australia and South Africa have met in 101 Tests with the Kangaroos dominating the Proteas, winning 54 Tests and losing just 26. They will surely have the psychological edge heading into the encounter. Interestingly, a day before the game, the two teams announced their playing XI, with quite a few interesting changes.
Now, with the match set to commence in a short while, here is what transpired at the toss.
Who won the toss today in AUS Vs SA WTC Final?
Temba Bavuma won the toss and he had no hesitation in electing to bowl first on a green top at the Lord's Stadium. There is some cloud cover in London at the moment and this prompted Bavuma to bowl first and put pressure on Australian batters.
