The wait is almost over as the World Test Championship (WTC) finale will take place between Australia and South Africa at the Lord's Cricket Ground. The final will kick-start from Wednesday, June 11 as the Aussies will look to defend their crown which was won in 2023.

The Aussies will enter the finals as the favourites and a large credit goes to their golden bowling trio of Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc. Time and again, the trio has wreaked havoc and will be the key players if the Aussies are to retain their WTC title at Lord's.

Interestingly, the trio has a special unbeaten streak which they would like to maintain in the finals.

Golden trio's special unbeaten streak

The golden trio of Australian cricket has never lost a final together. They have been a part of 4 finals together and have remained undefeated as the Proteas will look to spoil the party and win their second-ever IPL title by beating the favourites.

Which finals have Cummins, Starc and Hazlewood played together?

The first finale goes all the way back to the 2015 World Cup. In that tournament, the Aussies defeated co-host New Zealand in a one-sided affair to capture yet another World title. The second instance was the T20 World Cup final in 2021 as the Men in Yellow won their maiden T20 title.

Last but not the least, their last trophy together came at the 2023 World Cup in India, where they defeated the home team, India and won their 6th 50-over World Cup.

Road to WTC finale for Australia

Australia finished at the second position in the points table, just below South Africa. At one stage, they were fighting with India for the second spot but after thrashing the Men in Blue in the Test series, Cummins' men stamped their authority and reached the finale with a win percentage of 67.54 and winning 13 Tests.
