Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav dropped a simple regulation catch of Saim Ayub in the first inning of the Super Four clash of the Asia Cup 2025. The laziness on the field led to widespread criticism online for Kuldeep.

India won the toss and decided to field first. Fakhar Zaman walked out to open in place of Saim and got off to a promising start before Hardik Pandya sent him packing.

Meanwhile, Saim Ayub, who walked out to bat at no.3, looked solid, hitting a four on the second ball against Hardik Pandya. However, to contain the batter early, Suryakumar Yadav brought in Varun Chakaravarthy to bowl the 5th over.

On the fourth delivery, Chakaravarthy did produce a chance. He tossed up a teasing googly from around the wicket, landing it on a length that suddenly kicked up.

Saim Ayub, looking to slog-sweep, only managed a top edge. The ball ballooned high into the night sky, swirling and dipping as it headed towards short fine leg.

Kuldeep Yadav, stationed there, had ample time to settle under it. What should have been a straightforward catch, a real dolly by professional standards, slipped right through his fingers.

The dropped chance led to widespread criticism for Kuldeep on social media. Fans slammed him for mediocre efforts in the field and questioned the team’s overall fielding standards, considering the fact that Abhishek Sharma also previously dropped a catch.

That being said, Saim Ayub couldn’t make the most out of his second life, as he was dismissed on 21 off 17 by Shivam Dube. By 13 overs, Pakistan had 110 runs on the board at the loss of 2 wickets.
