Sri Lanka have won all their group stage games [Twitter]
Two in-form sides Netherlands and Sri Lanka will clash against each other in Match 2 of the Super Sixes stage in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, where the top two finishing teams will book tickets for India for the main draw later this year. The encounter will be played at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.
Team Preview
Netherlands
After a spirited win over West Indies, the Netherlands will want to repeat their heroics against Sri Lanka as well. Having won three and lost one Group match, the Scott Edwards-captained XI has been in fine form.
Edwards, Max O'Dowd, and Teja Nidamanuru have been leading the way with the bat, while Bas de Leede has been spearheading the attack. New sensation Logan van Beek will be expected to rekindle his attacking self here as well and prove that his show against Windies was just not a one-off.
Sri Lanka
Undoubtedly, one of the most dominant in the tournament so far, Sri Lanka topped Group B with tour wins, ably led by all-rounder Dasun Shanaka. The Asian champions have demolished opponents in their path, notching up wins, courtesy of Wanindu Hasaranga, and Dimuth Karunaratne.
While Hasaranga is the leading wicket-taker in Qualifiers with 18 wickets, Lankan Test captain Karunaratne has slammed 223 runs, with one hundred. Other players like Pathum Nissanka and Charith Asalanka have played around Karunaratne.
A win for Lanka will push them closer to CWC 2023 in India.
