According to AccuWeather.com, Bengaluru is expected to remain overcast throughout the day on May 17, with a significant chance of rainfall and thunderstorms coinciding with the scheduled match hours. The report indicates 70% chance of precipitation during the day, which increases to 80% in the evening. The city is expected to witness 100% cloud cover, raising serious concerns over whether a full match will be possible.

Adding to the concern, thunderstorm probabilities are pegged at 42% during the day and 50% in the evening, with rainfall predicted to last around 1.5 hours, likely overlapping with the prime-time game. 

A drenching thunderstorm is also expected during match time. Winds are forecast to blow from the west at 13 km/h, with gusts reaching speeds up to 30 km/h. The temperature is likely to hover around 31°C in the afternoon, cooling down to 23°C by the evening, but the atmosphere could remain humid and storm-prone. 

However, it is important to note that Chinnaswamy Stadium is known for its quick drainage system and efficient rain management. 

RCB & KKR's IPL Tournament So Far

The potential weather disruption comes at a critical time for both teams. RCB, riding a four-match winning streak, are currently placed second on the table with 16 points from 11 matches, and a win would guarantee them a spot in the playoffs. KKR, meanwhile, are fighting for survival, sitting sixth with 11 points from 12 games. A loss here could likely eliminate the defending champions from playoff contention.
