To the delight of cricket fans across the globe, the IPL 2025 is all set to resume tonight, with RCB taking on KKR in a high-voltage affair at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. For the unversed, the tournament was temporarily suspended amid the recent border tensions between India and Pakistan.

MS Dhoni's Retirement In Focus As IPL 2025 Resumes

As the remaining IPL 2025 matches are about to get underway, fans across the globe are awaiting an update on MS Dhoni's future going forward. Dhoni, 43, has been active in the IPL despite retiring from international cricket way back in 2019.

With form and fitness concerns looming large, fans fear that the ongoing season could be Dhoni's final swan song in the tournament.

However, according to the latest report, MS Dhoni hasn't given any hint at retiring from the IPL after the 2025 season. As stated by the Times Of India, the talismanic keeper-batter hasn't taken a call on his cricketing retirement, and, he might play the next season as well.

The report claims that the decision makers at CSK are confident of MS Dhoni representing the franchise in the IPL 2026. Having said that, the former Indian captain recently opened up on his plans, revealing that he would assess his fitness in the coming few months before taking a call on his availability for the next season.

CSK's Abysmal Performance In IPL 2025

Apart from Dhoni's declined batting prowess, CSK were hit by Ruturaj Gaikwad's fitness issues, with an unfortunate elbow injury sidelining the batter from the IPL 2025. Their several mega auction signings- particularly Rahul Tripathi, Vijay Shankar, Jamie Overton and Deepak Hooda- failed to live up to the expectations, resulting in CSK's forgettable campaign this year.

However, the franchise was fortunate to sign Dewald Brevis, Urvil Patel and Ayush Mhatre, who could be retained as a part of their young core group for the next IPL season.
