After securing two consecutive clinical victories, Joburg Super Kings (JSK) are set to clash with Pretoria Capitals (PC) in the tenth league-stage match of the ongoing SA20 season. The much-awaited face-off will be played at the iconic Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
Led by Faf du Plessis, JSK have been outstanding in the tournament, winning their first two matches comfortably. On the other hand, Pretoria Capitals have blown hot and cold in the tournament, reeling at fourth position with one victory in three outings. Thus, the Super Kings would like to sustain their dream run, while the Capitals would be desperate to clinch their second win of the season.
Meanwhile, rain threat looms large over the fascinating contest, with inclement weather likely to interrupt the high-voltage match in Johannesburg.
Wanderers Stadium Johannesburg Weather Update
The previous SA20 encounter at the Wanderers Stadium was a rain-marred affair, which JSK won by the DLS method. Bowling first, the hosts restricted MI Cape Town to a 140-run total. In response, the hosts raced to 82 for three in 11.3 overs before rain interrupted the proceedings.
However, Joburg Super Kings emerged victorious by a narrow margin, as they were ahead of the DLS par score by six runs. Interestingly, their upcoming game against Pretoria Capitals will likely be affected by rain, with AccuWeather predicting 55 per cent precipitation chances in Johannesburg this evening.
While the temperature is expected to vary between 15 to 26 degrees Celsius, scattered thunderstorms might hamper the proceedings, particularly around 6-7 pm local time. Therefore, we might witness another rain-affected clash, and the toss-winning team could opt to bowl, keeping the overcast conditions and DLS rule in mind.
Update: Pretoria Capitals posted 138 runs on the board in 20 overs. However, rain intervened in the contest before the second innings could start. As per the latest update on CREX, it's pelting down in Johannesburg and we will start losing overs if the rain continues for an hour.
