Vidarbha's wicket-keeper Jitesh Sharma took an outstanding catch to dismiss Maharashtra captain Ruturaj Gaikwad in the ongoing semifinal match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Chasing a mammoth target of 381 runs, Maharashtra had the worst possible start to their innings, losing skipper Gaikwad for seven runs in the all-important affair.

The incident occurred during the third over of Maharashtra's innings after Vidarbha set a daunting target for them. Opening the batting for his side, Gaikwad managed only seven runs before Darshan Nalkande's sharp short ball sent him packing.

After starting his over with two consecutive dot balls, Nalkande surprised Ruturaj Gaikwad with a short ball. As the Chennai Super Kings captain tried to play a pull shot, he only managed a top edge, with Vidarbha's wicket-keeper Jitesh Sharma taking a magnificent catch.

As Gaikwad mistimed the pull shot, the ball went high in the air, with Jitesh covering a great distance to pounce on it. He showcased remarkable commitment and fitness standards, executing a full-stretched dive to claim the catch.

Rahul Tripathi Ups The Ante For Maharashtra

After Gaikwad was dismissed for his fifth consecutive low score in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Rahul Tripathi joined the in-form Arshin Kulkarni in the middle. As of writing, Maharashtra were 49 for one, with Tripathi and Kulkarni batting on 27* and 14*, respectively. Thus, Maharashtra need 330 more runs to win the knockout fixture.
