In a significant development, Pakistan has revealed its playing XI for the opening Test against the West Indies, set to begin on January 17, 2025, at the Multan Cricket Ground. After a disappointing series loss to South Africa, Pakistan, will look to regain form and confidence against the Caribbean side.

Mohammad Huraira is set to make his Test debut in the first Test match. It is important to mention that Huraira will replace Saim Ayub, who is recovering from an ankle injury. The 22-year-old earned his place in the team following a series of strong performances in first-class cricket. He has played 44 first-class matches and and made 3427 runs with an average of 48.95.

It is likely expected that Mohammad Huraira will open the batting with captain Shan Masood. Star batter Babar Azam will follow at number three, the middle order will feature Kamran Ghulam, Saud Shakeel, wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, and all-rounder Salman Ali Agha. This solid core of experienced players will look to provide stability and support for Pakistan's batting line-up.

With the Multan pitch anticipated to favour spin, Pakistan has opted for a spin-heavy bowling attack. Noman Ali, and Sajid Khan will spearhead the spin department, hoping to exploit the conditions effectively. They will be joined by mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed, adding variety and unpredictability to the bowling unit. Khurram Shahzad is the sole pacer in the lineup, bringing pace and bounce to complement the spin-heavy attack.
