WI vs IND | Shubman Gill Returns Back In Form On Florida's Batting Paradise

Shubman Gill hasn't had the best of times on the ongoing West Indies tour; however, the prodigal batter found his rhythm back as soon as the Indian side batted in the United States. Gill registered his first half-century of the T20I series and second fifty of the tour as India march toward victory in the do-or-die affair at Florida's Lauderhill.

In a chase of 179 runs, Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal stitched a near-perfect opening partnership for the Men in Blue, becoming the first Indian opening pair to register a 50+ score since October 2022 and a century stand since September last year.

The 23-year-old completed his first T20I fifty in the 11th over of the chase. Additionally, he already has a century in the format under his belt.

Interestingly, the right-handed batter is also become the leading run-scorer in 2023, going past Ireland's Harry Tector, who has scored 1147 runs.

Matching shoulder to shoulder, Jaiswal - too - smashed his maiden fifty in the shortest format. Both the batters, who struggled to put the bat on the ball in the last fixture, didn't give the Windies bowlers any minimal chance to hold onto.

Talking about the fixture, the home team got to a blistering start to their innings, but the Indian bowlers took the command as soon as the older ball came into play. However, Shimron Hetmyer's spellbinding 61 in the death overs took the Windies' total to 178 for 8.

At the time of writing, the Indian openers have taken the total to 138-0 after 13 overs, as the visitors are just touching difference away from levelling the series.
