West Indies recovered following their post-powerplay jitters to crack 178 from their 20 overs in Lauderhill. Team India, in pursuit of enforcing a decider at the same venue, had all their bowlers, sans Hardik Pandya, amongst the wickets.

For starters, Arshdeep Singh struck twice in the powerplay at a time when Kyle Mayers and number three Shai Hope launched a calculated attack at the top.

West Indies opener Kyle Mayers launched two boundaries and a six in his first six deliveries of the innings, before he was bounced out by Arshdeep Singh. His partner Brandon King was kept quite from the outset, before he became Singh’s second victim of the evening just as he started to look comfortable at the crease.

Number three Shai Hope kept the scoreboard ticking, as he pummelled Indian bowlers throughout his 29-ball stay to list 45. Kuldeep Yadav claimed two wickets in his first over just after the powerplay to reduce West Indies at 57-4 after seven overs.

From thereon, Shimron Hetmyer took command as he set fire to the stage with his 61-run blitzkrieg. In pursuit of death overs run, he perished to pacer Singh with four balls left in the innings.

West Indies eventually managed 178-8, with Arshdeep and Kuldeep taking a combined five wickets between them.
