The Lucknow Super Giants took on the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. The home side, LSG dominated the proceedings despite an early hiccup and were etching closer to victory with Nicholas Pooran toying away with the GT bowlers.
While almost 50,000 fans attended the IPL match on Saturday, there was one person missing and he was the LSG owner, Sanjiv Goenka.
Why Sanjiv Goenka didn't attend LSG Vs GT IPL match?
Apart from owning the Super Giants, Sanjiv Goenka is also the owner of Indian Super League (ISL) team, Mohun Bagan. The LSG owner is currently in Kolkata since his team, will take on the Bengaluru FC in the finals of the ISL today.
The match will take place at the Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata and Sanjiv Goenka will cheer for his Football team today. The match will start at 7:30 PM IST.
Sanjiv Goenka is someone who attends all the home games for LSG, so his absence raised quite a few eyebrows.
LSG dominated GT in Goenka's absence
GT openers, Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill added 120 runs for the opening wicket, but once the duo departed, things turned for LSG as they churned out wickets at will and restricted GT to just 180/6.
For LSG, Rishabh Pant decided to open, but he failed to deliver the goods. However, the ever-reliant, Nicholas Pooran smacked yet another fifty and steered them past the winning line.
