Swashbuckling Indian keeper-batter Sanju Samson has undergone surgery on his finger; however, the Kerala-born cricketer is expected to get fit before the Indian Premier League 2025. It's worth mentioning that Samson fractured the index finger of his right hand during the T20I series against England.
Samson Is Expected To Recover Before IPL 2025
According to ESPN Cricinfo, Sanju Samson got his finger operated on Tuesday, and he will take around one month to fully recover from it. Samson was struck on his index finger while trying to tackle a pacy delivery from ace English pacer Jofra Archer. Although the 30-year-old cricketer resumed batting after being attended by the team physio, he was replaced by Dhruv Jurel as wicketkeeper in the second half of the match.
The unfortunate injury sidelined Samson from Kerala's Ranji Trophy quarter-final encounter against Jammu & Kashmir, which got underway in Pune on February 8. While his participation in the IPL 2025 was doubtful, Samson underwent surgery on his injured finger and will likely feature in the tournament after completing his rehabilitation.
Sanju Samson's Recent Performance And Future Assignments
Sanju Samson didn't have a great time in the England T20Is, managing only 51 runs across five outings at a mediocre average of 10.20. He hasn't been included in India's Champions Trophy squad, with the Men in Blue preferring KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant for wicket-keeping duties. So, Samson's next assignment will be an IPL 2025 stint with Rajasthan Royals, a team he will lead in the tournament.
