In a significant development, Indian left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav is not playing. Team India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first against Ireland in the eighth match of the T20 World Cup 2024 at Nassau County Stadium, New York on Wednesday (June 5).

Indian bowling all-rounder Axar Patel has replaced Kuldeep Yadav. In the opening, it will be Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. It is also surprising to note that leg-break spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is not part of the India's playing XI.

Kuldeep Yadav was last seen in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, where he played 11 matches and took 16 wickets at an economy rate of 8.70.
