'Jadeja Is Not A Finisher, Dube Second Concern,' KKR Legend Belittles CSK Stars Amid T20 WC 2024

As Team India prepares to face Ireland in the inaugural match of the T20 World Cup 2024 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, the question of who will assume the finisher role remains unresolved.

Ravindra Jadeja's position in the squad has sparked much debate, with cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra weighing in during JioCinema's sports show '#AAKASHVANI'.

"Ravindra Jadeja is not your finisher. We thrust him into that role, but he is not very good at it. We have not even accepted the fact that he is not a good finisher, and that is a problem," Chopra said.

Jadeja's performance in the recently concluded IPL 2024 has been scrutinised, despite scoring 267 runs in 14 games at an average of 44.50 and a strike rate of 142.78, including a top score of 57*. His ability to consistently deliver in the final overs has been questioned following several failures.

However, his consistency and performance as a finisher in the final overs came under scrutiny after some failures.

Chopra also expressed concerns about CSK's power hitter Shivam Dube, whose form in IPL 2024 has been inconsistent.

"The second concern is Shivam Dube's form, which is cold right now. A thumbs up for us is Hardik Pandya's form. He's back and looking really good while batting. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and of course, Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar Yadav, it's all looking great. The two areas of concern are Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja with the bat. Another concern is our fielding, which I think could be problematic," Chopra said.

In a recent warm-up match against Bangladesh on June 1, Jadeja scored 4 runs off 6 balls, while Dube managed 14 runs off 16 balls.

As India prepares to take on Ireland, they hold a perfect record against the Paul Stirling-led side, having won all seven previous encounters.
