India will play their T20 World Cup opener against Ireland on June 5 at the Nassau International Stadium in New York. The Rohit Sharma-led side are chasing their 2nd T20 WC title, as the Men in Blue lifted the trophy 17 years ago in the inaugural edition. Ahead of the crucial game against the European side, several pundits and cricketers extended their wishes for the Indian side.

The most noticeable message came from Ishan Kishan, who was in the news after getting dropped from the central contract. Kishan, who was once in the scheme of things for the opening slot, is not a part of the 15-member list.

The 25-year-old was ahead of Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson in the pecking order, but his absence from domestic tournaments earlier this year irked BCCI, and as a result, he was ousted from the contract. His actions followed a disappointed IPL, which forced the selectors to ignore the MI opener. Nonetheless, Ishan took to Instagram, where he wished the Men in Blue for a successful campaign.

"It's World Cup time again, and we must get behind our boys. Good luck to the team and support staff," Ishan Kishan wrote on his Instagram story.

Ishan was a part of India's squad for the 2023 World Cup campaign, where he spent most of the time on the bench. Meanwhile, the Rohit Sharma-led side, who fell short in the finals, would look to turn things around and delight the fans with a World Cup this time, as this tournament also marks the last event for Rahul Dravid as India's head coach.
