In a significant development, Pakistan have revealed their playing XI for the Tri-Series final against New Zealand at National Stadium in Karachi. The hosts have made a significant change to their lineup, replacing Mohammad Hasnain with Faheem Ashraf.

Why Is Mohammad Hasnain Not Playing PAK vs NZ Tri-Series Final?

Mohammad Hasnain made his much-awaited ODI comeback following his impressive returns in the national champions cup. However, with Pakistan preferring Haris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah as their frontline seamers, Hasnain was the reserve pacer for the first match of the ODI Tri-Series.

Nevertheless, Pakistan suffered a massive setback in the opening encounter, as Haris Rauf sustained an injury, which eventually sidelined him from the series. As a result, the hosts were forced to replace him with Hasnain in their playing XI for the subsequent encounter against South Africa.

But the right-arm pacer put up an ordinary performance against the Proteas, going wicketless and conceding 72 runs in his eight-over spell. So, considering his poor outing, Pakistan might have decided to replace him with Faheem Ashraf in their XI for the ultimate game.

Faheem, who was the second most successful bowler in the BPL 2024-25, can also contribute handy runs to the tally as a lower middle-order batter. Pakistan are without Haris Rauf and in such a scenario, it seems a sensible decision to bring Faheem and ensure batting depth. The move will also allow Faheem to get some game time before the all-important Champions Trophy.
