The Champions Trophy is returning for the first time since 2017 and the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a total prize pool of $6.9 million. The prize pool has gone up by 53% compared to 2017, which makes every match even more exciting.
Massive $6.9 Million Prize Pool for ICC Champions Trophy 2025
The team that wins the Champions Trophy 2025 title will walk away with a whopping $2.24 million. Even the runners-up will pocket a massive $1.12 million, while the two losing semi-finalists will bag $560,000 each.
In this tournament, every win matters. Group stage victories come with a $34,000 bonus for the winning team. Even if a team finishes fifth or sixth, they will still take home $350,000.
The seventh and eighth-placed teams won't go home empty-handed either, as they'll receive $140,000 each. Moreover, every team is guaranteed $125,000 just for participation.
Champions Trophy Returns to Pakistan
This edition is extra special because it marks the first ICC event in Pakistan since 1996. Fans in Pakistan have waited almost three decades for a global tournament, and it's finally happening. The top eight ODI teams have been divided into two groups of four, with the top two from each group advancing to the semi-finals.
With so much at stake, every match will be a do-or-die battle. Teams will fight tooth and nail for every run, wicket, and win.
Sure, the money is big, but Jay Shah, ICC Chair, summed it up perfectly when he said, “The ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025 represents a pivotal moment for cricket, reviving a tournament that highlights the pinnacle of ODI talent.”
And that's not all! There is good news for women's cricket, too. The Women's Champions Trophy will debut in 2027 in a T20 format, adding more excitement to the calendar.
