In the 61st match of IPL 2025, Lucknow Super Giants are up against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. SRH have won the toss and have decided to bowl first, and have made som interesting changes. One of the notable exclusions is Travis Head, the aggressive opener who did brilliantly for them in the 2024 season.
Covid-19 Halts Travis Head's IPL Return
In the 2025 edition, Travis Head has not been in good form and his lack of exploits at the top of the order has played a big role in SRH not able to deliver the magic of the last season. However, his exclusion against LSG is because of his late arrival to the SRH camp. The Australian joined SRH squad on Monday morning because he got Covid-19, just before he was scheduled to fly for India.
In place of Travis Head, Atharva Taide is likely to open for SRH in this game. He has been included in the Impact Players list, and could come into the the playing XI in the second half. There is also option of Sachin Baby, and in that case, Ishan Kishan could move to the top of the order alongside Abhishek Sharma. Also, Harsh Dubey is making his debut for SRH today, with no place for Unadkat and Mohammed Shami in the side.
Sunrisers Hyderabad are already out of the playoffs race, but have pride to play for, and would be hoping to come up with an impressive performance in this game. LSG, on the other hand, are still in the race, and the game against SRH is a must-win one. If they lose, they would be eliminated too, thus, we can expect them to come out hard with the bat.
