In an unfortunate turn of events, the third day's play of the ongoing fourth Test between India and Australia was interrupted due to rain. The high-voltage match, which hadn't witnessed a rain delay on the first two days, was paused due to an unexpected drizzle at the iconic venue. As a result, the tea break was taken earlier than the scheduled time, with India placed at 326 for seven in their first innings.

The weather forecast of Melbourne Cricket Ground doesn't look promising for the rest of the day. There's a 20-25 per cent chance of precipitation, with a persistent drizzle likely to interrupt the proceedings.

However, the rain won't likely continue for a significant period. So, there could be a few disruptions, with inclement weather playing spoilsport in between some passages of play. 

Reddy-Sundar Partnership Help India Avoid Follow-On

Regarding the match, India were in a spot of bother after losing seven wickets for 221 runs in their first innings. However, all-rounders Nitish Reddy and Washington Sundar joined forces to bail them out of trouble with a magnificent partnership. Riding on their valiant effort, the visitors propelled themselves to 326 for seven before the tea break was taken on day 3. As of writing, Reddy and Sundar were batting on 85* and 40*, respectively.
