India’s ODI captain Rohit Sharma recently opened up about the special moment he proposed to his wife, Ritika Sajdeh. The opener apparently took his now wife to a Borivali sports club, where he started playing cricket and proposed to her in the middle of the ground.

Rohit met Ritika in his early days of playing cricket for the Indian cricket team. She was his manager before the friendship blossomed into love. The couple dated for many years before tying the knot in 2015.

Rohit Sharma Shares His Proposal Story With Ritika

In a fun chat with Harbhajan Singh and Geeta Basra on the YouTube show “Who’s The Boss?” Rohit Sharma revealed that he had planned a surprise proposal. 

Rohit suggested going out for dessert, saying he knew a great ice cream place in Borivali, his hometown in Mumbai. He instead drove her to the cricket ground where he first started playing cricket as a child. 

“My proposal was quite romantic. I took her to the place where I started playing cricket. We were here only (somewhere along Marine Drive apparently). She had brought food from home. We ate it. So, I was just sitting. Then I told her let’s go out to eat ice cream, I’m bored. Then we took the car out, we left. "We left from Marine Drive, crossed Haji Ali, Worli," Rohit said.

There, in the middle of the pitch, Rohit went down on one knee and popped the question. Luckily, a friend has already made the arrangements in advance.

"So, she asked where is the ice cream shop? She does not know anything after Bandra. I told her there's a good one in Borivali, where I live. You’ve never come, so let me show you. It was a ground and it was pitch dark and she didn’t realise it was a ground. Then I had already told my friend to set up something there at the ground and just be there to capture the moment. We parked the car. Then I went on my knees, in the middle of the pitch. Then, I proposed to her,” he added.

Who Is Ritika Sajdeh?

Ritika Sajdeh, born on 21 December 1987 in Mumbai, is a prominent sports manager and wife of Indian cricket icon Rohit Sharma. Her journey began in sports event management at Cornerstone Sport & Entertainment, founded by her cousin Bunty Sajdeh. She later rose to prominence managing brand endorsements and contracts for top athletes like Virat Kohli and, eventually, her husband.

Though she maintains a low-profile public life, Ritika is fiercely supportive, often seen cheering for Rohit from the stands and sharing family moments on Instagram.
