Yashasvi Jaiswal, projected as one of India’s next big things, has not lived up to his lofty expectations with the bat in South Africa in the ongoing two-match Test series. However, on Wednesday, during Day 1 of India’s final Test against the Proteas, a fielding effort from him attracted much attention, and it was Mohammed Siraj who drew first blood because of his magnificent catch.

Coming to bowl the fourth over of the day, Siraj bowled a pitched-up delivery outside the off stump to Aiden Markram, who went for a defensive push to tackle it. However, the South African opener, who was brilliantly set up by Siraj in the series opener, got fooled again with a sharp movement of the delivery, as the ball got a thick outside edge off the bat towards the slip cordon.

Placed at third slip, Jaiswal dived to his left and completed an excellent low catch to ensure Markram’s short stay after a 10-ball 2.

Meanwhile, Siraj, a few overs later, got the dangerous wicket of Dean Elgar's as well. As a result, South Africa are struggling as of writing, having slipped to 10/2 after 6.1 overs.
