Andre Russell initiated a wicket spree for West Indies in their ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 match against South Africa at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. 

After the co-hosts posted a sub-par total of 135/8, South Africa began their chase but encountered early setbacks as Andre Russell took the crucial wickets of both South African openers.

In the second over of South Africa's innings, Russell delivered a double-wicket strike. The first dismissal occurred when Russell bent his back and delivered a short ball targeting the body of Quinton de Kock. 

He attempted to pull but was hurried by the pace and ended up hitting the ball off the upper half of his bat. 

The ball went straight to Rutherford at deep backward square leg, who took a straightforward catch. Russell's aggressive bowling and early breakthroughs were exactly what the West Indies needed to defend their total.

Earlier in the match, South Africa won the toss and invited West Indies to bat first. With significant contributions from Kayle Mayers and Roston Chase, the co-hosts managed to score a sub-par 135/8. 

Meanwhile, a must-win match for West Indies has been interrupted by rain. As of writing, South Africa were 15/2 in two overs.
