In the 50th match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, South Africa won the toss and opted to bowl first against the West Indies. Their decision paid off immediately as Marco Jansen dismissed Shai Hope for a golden duck in the very first over.

Jansen delivered a length ball at 139.2 kmph, just outside the off stump. Hope, aimed to drive through the covers, mistimed his shot, resulting in an aerial hit straight to Tristan Stubbs at cover point.

Stubbs, positioned slightly squarer, reacted swiftly to take a good catch inside the circle. This early wicket was a significant blow to the West Indies, especially since Hope had scored an unbeaten 82 in the previous match.

Things worsened for the West Indies when they lost another wicket in the second over. After Marco Jansen dismissed Shai Hope in the first over, South African skipper Aiden Markram made a surprising move by bringing himself into the attack.

This strategic change immediately paid off, which further put pressure on the West Indies' batting lineup. At the time of writing, West Indies were at 67/2 in 9.2 overs.
