West Indies had a rough start in their must-win Super Eights fixture against South Africa at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua during the 50th match of the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

After losing Shai Hope for a golden duck in the first over and another early wicket in the second over, things got even worse when Kyle Mayers, who looked in decent form, also fell.

The crucial moment occurred in the 11th over when West Indies were trying to recover and build some momentum.

Tabraiz Shamsi delivered the breakthrough for South Africa. Kyle Mayers, who had scored 35 runs off 34 balls, attempted to accelerate but ended up slicing a length delivery from Shamsi towards deep cover-point.

Tristan Stubbs, who had already taken a catch earlier, made a good ground to dismiss the southpaw.

This dismissal ended a scratchy night for Mayers, who had been brought into the XI to replace the struggling Johnson Charles.

Shamsi celebrated aggressively as it broke a developing partnership and gave South Africa a much-needed boost.

Despite losing regular wickets, Kyle Mayers and Roston Chase tried to consolidate the West Indies innings. However, they lacked support at the other end, leading to a batting collapse for the co-hosts. As of writing, they were at 118/7 in 17.3 overs.
