To the delight of cricket fans across the globe, the much-awaited IPL 2025 mega auction will be conducted on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. A total of 576 players will go under the hammer, with ten franchises engaging in multiple bidding wars to secure their services.

While the eyes will be on twelve marquee players, there are some cricketers who might not attract any bidder in the auction. So, as the IPL mega auction nears, let's analyse and find out which Indian players might go unsold in the marquee event.

Sarfaraz Khan (Base Price - 75 lakhs)

Why will Sarfaraz Khan go unsold in IPL 2025 auction?

  • Sarfaraz Khan's IPL career has been marred by inconsistency. In 37 IPL outings, the right-handed batter has managed only 585 runs at a modest average of 22.50.
  • The dynamic right-hander bursted onto the scene as a 360-degree player, Sarfaraz failed to live up to the hype. More importantly, he has struggled to find a suitable batting position for himself, disappointing several franchises with his underwhelming outings in the middle as well as death overs.
  • The Mumbaikar didn't play the IPL 2024, as he went unsold in the mini auction. Currently, Sarfaraz Khan has the reputation of a Test specialist, which is why he might not attract any bidder despite setting a base price of 75 lakhs.

Mayank Agarwal (Base Price - 1 Crore)

Why will Mayank Agarwal go unsold in IPL 2025 auction?

  • Mayank Agarwal did an amazing job for Punjab Kings, slamming 1513 runs in 59 appearances for the franchise. However, the opening batter was a pale shadow of himself after shifting his base to Sunrisers Hyderabad.
  • Since 2022, Agarwal has managed only 530 IPL runs at an abysmal average of 20.38. He has struggled to get going in the last few seasons and hence might go unsold in the IPL 2025 auction.

Umesh Yadav (Base Price- 2 Crore)

Why will Umesh Yadav go unsold in IPL 2025 auction?

  • There was a time when Umesh Yadav used to be an integral member of India's Test setup. However, the fast bowler eventually lost his form, struggling to make an impact for the national side.
  • Umesh Yadav is on the wrong side of the 30s and has lost the extra zip he had at his peak. The pacer has a horrible death bowling record of late and his base price of 2 crores is a bit too high for someone of his stature at this stage. So, considering his age, recent form and price tag, we doubt any team will raise the paddle for him in the mega auction.
