Virat Kohli is known to convert his fifties into big centuries and very rarely we see him losing his wicket when he is close to his hundred. One such rare occurrence was against Sri Lanka at Wankhede in World Cup 2023 where against the run of play, Kohli departed on 88 because of a lovely slower delivery by Dilshan Madushanka.

Virat Kohli walked out to bat at number 3 when Rohit Sharma departed on the second ball of the game by a beautiful delivery by none other than, Dilshan Madushanka. Kohli then build a solid partnership with Gill and the duo put together 189-run stand for the second wicket to put India in a strong position. Madushanka though broke that partnership as well as Gill departed on 92 and then in the 32nd over, Madushanka produced a beautiful delivery to outfox a well-set Virat Kohli.

It was the third delivery of the 32nd over and a fullish slower delivery from 'round the wicket on off. Virat Kohli did not pick the slower delivery and tried to drive it. However, the ball came slow off the wicket and Kohli ended up lopping it up in the air towards covers where Pathum Nissanka took an easy catch.

The wicket of Virat Kohli reduced India to 196-3 and brought Sri Lanka back in the game after India dominated for the majority of middle overs.
