'She Completes Me...' - KL Rahul About With His Loving Wife Athiya Shetty

KL Rahul, who has been in exceptional form during the ongoing World Cup 2023, has opened up about the invaluable support he's received from his family and his wife, Athiya Shetty, during challenging times. 

Rahul, who had been plagued by injuries and suffered a severe blow to his confidence due to the negativity and trolling that surrounded him, made a powerful comeback with a century against Pakistan in the 2023 Asia Cup and has maintained that momentum ever since. 

During a recent conversation with Star Sports, KL Rahul shed light on how his wife Athiya Shetty is like his personal cheerleader, always pushing him to step up and do better. Here’s what Indian wicket-keeper batter said: 

“That is one thing which has been constant throughout my career (on family support). I recently got married, her support has always been there. She is someone who pushes me to do better. We both have very different personalities, and she, without being cheesy does complete me in a lot of ways. Her support is immense.”

Rahul went on to say that although his family has witnessed him through thick and thin, it was the first time his wife Athiya had to see him endure tough times and injuries. However, she handled it pretty well and has been his unwavering pillar of support.

“This was the first time my wife had to see me go through injuries, go through a little bit of failure in my sport and like I said getting so much negativity around us was very difficult but I think she handled it quite well. She’s been a huge support for me.”

Rahul has been the backbone of India's middle order, consistently chipping in with runs and rescuing the team from collapses in the ongoing World Cup. He has notched up 216 runs in five matches at an outstanding average of 80, with his highest score of 95*, achieved against Australia.
