After recording a string of low scores, promising Indian batter Shubman Gill had a memorable outing in India's seventh World Cup match against Sri Lanka in Mumbai. Opening the batting, Gill formed a mammoth 189-run stand for the second wicket alongside Virat Kohli after India lost skipper Rohit Sharma early in the innings.

However, unfortunately, Gill missed a well-deserved century by a whisker, being dismissed by ace Lankan speedster Dilshan Madushanka in the 30th over. It was a short ball from Madushanka, as Gill edged it straight to the Lankan keeper Kusal Mendis, who held on to a simple catch.

While Gill was gutted after getting out against the run of play, his alleged girlfriend Sara Tendulkar was disappointed following his dismissal on the cusp of a century.

As soon as Gill got out to Madushanka, Sara was devastated, as she seemed really sad on his untimely dismissal. Nevertheless, she also stood up to applaud Gill when he was making his way back to the dugout.

After Gill's departure, Kohli also fell prey to Madushanka in his next over. As of writing, India are 214 for three in 34 overs, with Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul batting on 12* and 7*, respectively.
