The 34th match of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 will see Afghanistan locking horns with the Netherlands on Friday, November 3 at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium, Lucknow.

The Afghanistan team has played six matches so far in the tournament, out of which they have won three matches while losing as many. After a dominant seven-wicket win against Sri Lanka, they currently hold the sixth position in the points table and are determined to maintain their winning streak and aim for the semifinals.

On the other hand, Netherlands has secured two wins out of the six matches they have played in the tournament. Their recent thumping 87-run victory over Bangladesh has likely boosted their confidence, and they seem determined to play the spoiler in this game.

Before heading into this game, let’s take a look at the pitch report of Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium, which will be hosting their last match in the ongoing World Cup 2023:

AFG vs NED: Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium, Lucknow Pitch Report

Usually, the pitch at Ekana Stadium offers a good balance for both batters and bowlers in the tournament. However, in the recent India vs England match, it favoured the spinners, and given that it's a reused wicket, we are likely to see spinners getting even more assistance.

Moreover, there's a significant amount of dew expected in the latter part of the game. Given the Netherlands' preference for defending targets and Afghanistan's trust in their bowling, both teams are inclined to bat first if they win the toss.
