Legendary Indian batter Virat Kohli became the first man on planet earth to complete 8000 runs in the Indian Premier League. The talismanic right-handed batter achieved the feat during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's ongoing eliminator clash against Rajasthan Royals at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Opening the batting for RCB, Kohli got a magnificent start to his innings as he demoralised Sandeep Sharma and Avesh Khan with a flurry of boundaries.

After neutralising Trent Boult's new ball swing cautiously, the Delhi-born cricketer hammered Sandeep for a magnificent boundary to unlock the milestone.

The incident occurred during the sixth over of RCB's innings when they needed someone to up the ante following the cheap dismissal of skipper Faf du Plessis.

After conceding eight runs off his first four deliveries, Sharma targeted Kohli's pads, with the batter elegantly flicking him for a four using his bottom hand.

With the boundary, Kohli became the first-ever batter to score 8000 runs in IPL history. However, he couldn't play a big knock tonight, being dismissed by Yuzvendra Chahal for 33 runs.

As of writing, the Royal Challengers were in a spot of bother, placed at 56 for two in 7.3 overs, with Cameron Green and Rajat Patidar batting in the middle.
