India and South Africa are engaged in the first Test at SuperSport Park, Centurion, marking the beginning of their two-match series within the World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle, with vital points at stake for both teams.

The match experienced a slight delay due to rain, impacting the toss proceedings. Captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and elected to bowl, a decision that worked in South Africa's favour as the Indian team struggled with a top-order collapse amid overcast conditions.

Captain Rohit Sharma fell early, scoring only five runs off 14 balls, as Kagiso Rabada dismissed him with a short ball. Yashasvi Jaiswal, showing promise initially, departed thanks to Nandre Burger, managing only 14 runs.

The Indian batting icon, Virat Kohli took charge when the team was at a low, languishing at 23 for the loss of two wickets. His entry at Centurion was met with a resounding applause, and the crowd rose to their feet, cheering for the batting giant.
