After winning the ODI series against South Africa, Team India will now lock horns with the Proteas in the two-match Test series, starting on December 26 at SuperSport Park, Centurion.

In the World Test Championship 2023-25 run, this series is a big deal. Both teams are hungry for those crucial points, but it won't be a walk in the park for Team India as they have never clinched a Test series win in South Africa.

This series will furthermore see the return of the regular captain, Rohit Sharma, alongside senior players Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj, all of whom have been on a break since the heart-breaking World Cup defeat.

The team dynamics get interesting with the reintroduction of KL Rahul, dropped due to his lackluster showing in the BGT 2023 earlier this year. What's worth noting is his new role as a wicket-keeper batter.

Having served as a backbone in Team India's middle order during the World Cup 2023, KL Rahul is ready for a change. He's keen on batting in the middle order in Test cricket, leaving his usual opening position.

Meanwhile, during the last South Africa tour in 2021, KL Rahul flourished as an opener for Team India and he wrapped up the series as the top run-getter with 226 runs in six innings, with a century and a fifty to his name.

The Karnataka batter is now gearing up for a major role switch. Now, he not only steps into the shoes of a wicket-keeper but also adjusts his batting position to the middle order in the longest format. The intrigue is in seeing how he adapts to these changes and makes a meaningful impact for the team.
