The Champions Trophy 2025 encounter between India and Pakistan is turning out to be a difficult game for the Men in Green. They decided to bat first after winning the toss and after a decent start have lost their way, losing wickets at regular intervals.
It all started with Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel delivering crucial blows and then Kuldeep Yadav joined the act to sink Pakistan further. Khusdil Shah displayed some fight despite regular blows and it was Naseem Shah who was giving him some company.

However, Kuldeep outfoxed Naseem too in the 47th over with a fuller delivery angling into the stumps. Naseem Shah tried to drive it, but the ball went off the inside half of his blade to the long on area. Virat Kohli there ran forward and grabbed a good low catch, while diving forward. His reaction though was quite uncharacteristic as he did not show any emotions and just threw the ball back to the bowler and walked off silently towards his teammate.
Most Catches in ODI Cricket
Player | Matches | Catches |
---|---|---|
Mahela Jayawardene | 448 | 218 |
Ricky Ponting | 375 | 160 |
Virat Kohli | 299 | 157 |
The catch took him past former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin's tally of 156 ODI catches and is now the leading catcher for India in the 50-over format and he is third in the list of most catches in ODI cricket among all countries.
Naseem Shah, on the other hand, walked back in disappointment as Pakistan needed him to stay with Khushdil Shah. It is also a big game for Pakistan as they have already lost their first game of the tournament and need to win this one to keep their realistic hopes alive.
India, on the other hand, already have one win under their belt and would be hoping that they get another one in their belt against arch-rivals Pakistan.
