In a thrilling encounter at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, emotions ran high as India clashed with Pakistan in Champions Trophy. The highlight of the match came when Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan, who had been holding the innings together, was dismissed in a game-changing moment that had Indian players and fans celebrating wildly.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Pakistan faced early setbacks. Indian bowlers struck quickly—Babar Azam was sent back for just 23 runs by Hardik Pandya, and Imam-ul-Haq followed soon after, managing only 10 runs.

Mohammed Rizwan and Saud Shakeel Build Solid Partnership

However, the pressure eased when Rizwan formed a crucial partnership with Saud Shakeel. Together, they stitched a solid 104-run stand and pushed Pakistan toward a respectable total. However, Rizwan seemed poised for a well-deserved half-century.

Just as Rizwan looked set to dominate, Indian all-rounder Axar Patel stepped up in the 34th over and delivered a moment of brilliance. Rizwan attempted a risky slog sweep, trying to send the ball into the stands. However, Axar’s delivery was perfectly placed—tossed up with a bit of drift, it deceived Rizwan, who misjudged the shot.

The result? Bowled out for 46 runs off 77 balls, just four runs short of his half-century. The partnership was finally broken, and India found their opening. Axar’s timely wicket gave the Men in Blue a much-needed breakthrough.



As Rizwan’s stumps were shattered, Indian star Virat Kohli couldn’t contain his excitement. His passionate celebration with Harshit Rana lit up the stadium.

India Put Pakistan On Back Foot

Earlier in the match, despite losing early wickets, Pakistan’s middle order showed resilience. Thanks to Rizwan and Shakeel’s partnership, they managed to rebuild after India’s quick strikes. At the time of writing, Pakistan are  at 166 for 5 in 36 overs, with Salman Ali Agha and Khushdil Shah at the crease, trying to guide their team to a competitive total.
