Shaheen wasted a DRS for Pakistan [Source: @kuchbhi12341416/X]
Pakistan's ace speedster Shaheen Afridi committed a massive blunder as he wasted a valuable DRS with a poor review to save himself. Coming at number eight, Shaheen couldn't open his account, being dismissed for a golden duck in the high-voltage clash against India in the Champions Trophy.
Shaheen Wastes Pakistan's DRS With Huge Blunder
The incident occurred during the 43rd over of Pakistan's innings when Shaheen had just joined the in-form Khushdil Shah to steady the ship for the hosts. However, the fast bowler was bamboozled by Kuldeep Yadav, who trapped him plumb in front of the stumps.
From over the wicket, Kuldeep bowled a googly as the ball turned sharply into Shaheen after pitching outside the off stump. The southpaw went for a defensive shot; however, he couldn't read Kuldeep's variations and got struck on his pads.
As soon as the Indian players appealed for a LBW, the on-field umpire raised his finger, declaring him out. However, despite being hit right in front of the stumps, Shaheen opted to go upstairs to challenge the decision.
The HawkEye predicted three reds, with the third umpire upholding the on-field call and asking Shaheen to make his way back to the hut. Thus, Pakistan lost a crucial review, which they could've used in the remaining overs.
Pakistan Reeling Vs India In Champions Trophy
After Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq's cheap dismissals, captain Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel consolidated Pakistan's innings with a fighting stand. However, their wickets brought India back into the contest, as the Men in Blue triggered a collapse with a spectacular bowling effort. As of writing, Pakistan were 216 for seven, with Khushdil and Naseem batting on 25* and 11*, respectively.
